My Favorite Essential Oil Blends For The Home
I know not everyone is a huge fan of fall and that you might not be able to relate, but I can't even tell you how happy I am that the seasons are changing over. Autumn is my favorite time of the year, especially since it means that the holidays aren't too far behind. Just think....pretty soon we'll all be pulling out our boxes of Christmas décor and wrapping paper tubes again!
But I'm getting ahead of myself, and I'm sure there are more than a few of you out there mourning the loss of those hot summer months. To ease into the transition, I thought it might be fitting to chat about my favorite essential oil blends for the home.
The cold is coming (whether it's welcome or not), and that often means more time spent indoors. The good news is that essential oils have the power to keep your home smelling fresh and maybe even a little like those tropical days you're pining for. Scroll on for a linked list of the go-to oils I always keep nearby for daily diffusing in our home.
My Favorite Essential Oils For Blending At Home:
1. Lavender: This is one essential oil that I tend to buy in bulk because it's such a staple in my collection. It goes with nearly everything, and always helps me de-stress. I like to blend lavender oil with something citrusy, like orange or lemon, to give it a bit of tang. This particular blend somehow energizes and relaxes me!
2. Orange: Speaking of something citrusy, orange oil is another one that I rebuy over and over. I actually love using this one on its own to give our home a "just-cleaned" scent, but it also blends well with eucalyptus, lemon, and peppermint to ward off decongestion while I'm cooped up inside.
3. 'Uplift' Collection: I mostly try blending on my own using oil bottles I already have, but every now and then its fun to experiment with a pre-curated set like this one from Pilgrim. 'Uplift' features Petitgrain, Black Spruce, and Bay Laurel to alleviate anxiety, so I love keeping the collection on hand by my desk when I'm trying to meet a stressful deadline.
4. Eucalyptus: As I mentioned before, eucalyptus is wonderful for getting you through those rough wintertime illnesses as a decongestant, but I also love to mix it with lavender, rosemary, and fir needle to help me relax in the late afternoons.
5. Fir Needle: See above for my all-time favorite way to blend this one, but I also love using it on its own throughout December. As you'd imagine, it smells just like a Christmas tree or fresh evergreen wreath.
6. Joy: If you're starting out and want to skip the manual process of blending different types of oils, try Joy! This one comes pre-mixed with Geranium, Ylang Ylang, Palmarosa, Jasmine, and Rose essential oils. I also love the citrus notes from the Bergamot, Tangerine, and Lemon, which are all inside this one, too.
I could clearly talk all day long about essential oils, so if you have a question or would like more blending inspiration, feel free to reply right to this newsletter. If I get enough of the same questions, I'll put together more essential oil-themed posts with plenty of additional info to get you started blending and diffusing. Cheers!
