My Everygirl Home Tour And Interview
Read all about our retro home renovation, plus see my favorite photos of our 1960s home.
One of the very best birthday surprises that I received earlier this month was the release of my home tour and interview on The Everygirl. I’ve been following along with this lifestyle website since the moment it launched, and John and I actually had our very first home featured there 13 years ago. That first tour has since been archived, but now I have a new feature to add to my list of blogging “pinch me” moments.
You can click here to take the official home tour and scroll through today’s newsletter to see some of my favorite photos from the interview, snapped by yours truly during a bright snowy day last winter.
So, did you learn anything new about me here that you didn’t know before? Or maybe you picked up some fresh ideas for tackling your own DIY home design? I’d love to hear your thoughts on the progress we’ve made on our “gentle” home renovation, too. One of my favorite things about doing the interview was having the chance to explain what I mean by that and how we’re working to honor the history of our mid-century home with really strategic updates. Please comment with your own “gentle” renovation stories!
Things worth mentioning this week…
New On The Blog: In case your Instagram feed is feeling a little stale, hop over to the blog to find my list of home décor accounts that I love to follow. Of course, the roundup of nine names isn’t exhaustive, but those are the ones I’m currently giddy to see when they show up on my feed.
What I’m Watching: This renter-friendly kitchen makeover from Lone Fox on YouTube was so impressive to watch unfold. I especially love his DIY cabinet handle and drawer pull idea—so simple yet stylish!
What I’m Reading: I’m about 75 pages into Empire of Storms (part of the Throne of Glass series), and am loving it. I’ve been so busy with work that I haven’t been able to read as much as I’d like to, so I started getting up early to get it in. Reading truly makes all the difference in my day.
Noteworthy Substack: I don’t have a favorite Substack to share this week because I’ve been sort of frustrated with the fact that everyone seems to be putting pay walls up on their content. I understand the need to make money (of course I do—I’m a content creator, too!), but it seems like maybe there are better ways to do it? I’ve been sharing my content for free for almost 15 years now, and I don’t plan on changing that any time soon.
Favorite Recent Purchase: I ordered this jumpsuit (in “Chocolate) to wear to a baby shower this weekend. It’s so comfy yet can be dressed up with gold jewelry and strappy sandals to make it party-ready.
Looking Forward To: A girl’s trip with my mom and sister. We’re not going far (our destination is just a couple of hours away), but we made reservations at one of our favorite boutique hotels, and plan on indulging in delicious local food while we’re away, too. I’ve already started packing even though we aren’t leaving for days!
