Launching The "Home Matters" Newsletter
It has been six years since I put out a newsletter, but I'm recommitting to the ritual as we kick off 2025. Stick around—I've got lots to share.
I was just about to say how embarrassed I am that I haven’t sent out a newsletter in six years, but the truth is that I genuinely just didn’t have it in me. Simply put, other things in my life and business took precedence (like navigating a global pandemic), and the newsletter was gently placed on the back burner.
It’s important to me that I only ever share really authentic stories and visuals with you online. I never want to waste your time or leave you feeling distracted for no reason, and I felt like the newsletter—at least the kind that I would have been able to produce at that time—wasn’t going to provide enough value. I listened to my intuition, and phased it out of my work processes.
Fast forward six years, and there’s so much that has changed. John and I said goodbye to our retro A-frame, moved to a new-to-us 1960s ranch, and we welcomed an entire new family of rescue pets to love. I feel like a totally different person from the girl who started this newsletter back in 2018, and my energy is back to a level that I think can sustain a bi-weekly newsletter again.
You may have noticed, but I also decided to make the switch from Mailchimp to Substack to host the newsletter because I’ve personally really enjoyed following along with my favorite content creators on the latter platform. It seems more user friendly and community-based, which I’m excited to test out here with the new DGD newsletter.
In honor of this new beginning, I’ve decided to rebrand, and am calling the newsletter “Home Matters.” As a subscriber, you’ll get a quick email every other week that includes a letter from me explaining what I’ve been up to, what kinds of home projects we have on the docket, and links to things that speak to me (think: shop-able home goods, podcasts that I’ve listened to, other Substack reads that inspired me, etc.). Always central to the theme will be home and how you can be inspired to focus on what really matters in your own space.
As always, please don't hesitate to shoot me an email if you have suggestions, ideas, or comments to share about anything—from the blog to what you'd like to see here in this newsletter. Cheers!

DIY 1/4 Wall Peel-And-Stick Wallpaper Border
I invite you to take my very first room tour of 2025: my updated home office. You’ll learn all about the brand new paint color I chose, the custom English-inspired wood trim I installed, and you’ll see the patterned peel-and-stick wallpaper I picked for the top of the room from Fancy Walls.
Click here to see the photos and find out how I pulled this project off over the last few weeks of 2024.

Weekly Link Roundup From Around The Web
I’m currently on a spending freeze for the month of January, so I’ve just been window shopping for home décor, but I couldn’t not share these lovely finds with all of you! I love that the utensil crock has the power to free up much-needed kitchen drawer space, and the tea towel would look so nice looped over the handle of your oven, don’t you think? That throw pillow is currently at the top of my personal wish list, and the design book mayyyyyy have found its way to our coffee table before I started my spending freeze…It’s a good one—trust me!
